Scripture: 1 Cor. 13:13 – And now
abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
The Bible teaches us here that of these three things, faith, hope and charity,
that charity is the greatest. Now certainly we know that faith is a great thing.
Without faith, the Bible says it is impossible to please God, and that faith in
God is necessary for our salvation, we know faith is great! We also know that
hope is a great thing. We who are saved have a hope today that keeps us going.
Hope is an expectation of a certain end. We have a hope that we will see loved
ones again, that we will see the Lord as He is! However, scripture is plain, as
great as faith and hope are, charity is greater! Why? Perhaps it is because of
the great charity or love that our Savior showed with His death on the cross.
The Bible says that greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his
life for his friends. Love is the greatest because God is love. There is none
greater than God is there? May I say as well today that love is not only great
because of who love is equated with, but because love is eternal. In heaven,
there will be no hope, it will already be realized! In heaven there will be no
need for faith, for we shall see him with our own eyes. However, in heaven,
there will still be love!! We will continually love Him and praise Him for all
eternity! No wonder the Bible says “but the greatest of these is charity.” –
