Never a Man Spake like this man!
John 7:46

Jesus had been speaking in Jerusalem, He had caused quite a stir. John 7:37-44
-Some believed vs.41 (this is the Christ)
-Some doubted. (It can’t be) vs 41-42
-Some wanted Him dead. Vs 43

The Pharisees had sent down some officers to see what was going on, Vs 31-32
they returned with the answer – vs 45-46
Never a Man spake like this man.

These men had heard the voice of God and their lives had been changed.
1. Never had they heard a man spoke boldly. John 7:26
He spoke without fear, Jesus was not concerned with what popularity! He spoke the truth

-He was not concerned with the critics.
-He was not concerned with the connivers (Pharisees).
-He was not concerned with the consequences.

Many criticize and chastise, some are even looking to get us to compromise, but we should speak the word with boldness!

Acts 4:29 - And now, Lord, behold their threatening: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word

Acts 4:31 - And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

So let us speak boldly this morning:
a. If you’re a Christian, you should act like it!
(2 Peter 3:18) - But grow in grace, and [in] the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him [be] glory both now and for ever. Amen.
b. If you’re a sinner, you must be born again, or you will die and spend eternity in hell! (John 3:3)
c. If America doesn’t repent she will face the wrath of God!
“Show me a nation that kills its babies tolerates homosexuality and removes God from its way of life and I will show you a country that will become a shadow of its former self!”
(Psalms 9:17 – The wicked shall be brought down to hell and all the nations that forget God)

2. Never had they heard a man spoke with such Authority.
He is the Creator and the authority of His voice was recognized.
He taught as though he knew what he was talking about. He didn’t learn it from books, He didn’t learn it at the university, and He is all knowing and all wise. He had the authority to teach His own doctrines. He didn’t go out and get a copy of the Bible, He wrote it!

Mark 1:22 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes

Final Authority
His word is the final authority. There will never be another book like this book!
* Some hold the words of a Priest above this book
* Some hold another book above this book

3. Never had they heard a man speak with such power.
When Jesus spoke things happened.
* His word was with such power that men had no choice but to make a decision!
Luke 4:32 – 36
-The sound of His voice had power.
--Power to heal.
--Power to comfort. (John 14)
--Power to raise the dead.

* Many times His word was with such power that men fell down!
John 18:6
- this still happens today, men fall on their faces before God!

4. Never had they heard a man speak with such compassion!
We may not be able to hear the audible voice of Jesus…but he did say that we could hear His voice. We hear his voice as he speaks to us through the Holy Spirit.
John 10:27, 28
