That which we have seen and heard, and felt!
Scripture: 1 John 1:1-3 – That which was from the
beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have
looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the word of life; (for the life was
manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that
eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) That which
we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye may also have fellowship
with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus
Christ.
The disciples had heard Him with their own ears, seen Him with their own eyes,
and touched Him with their own hands! What an experience, what a thrill! Because
of these experiences, these men of God felt compelled to bear witness of all
these great things. The goal of the disciples was to show us what God had shown
them, not for their glory, but rather for others benefit! Our scripture today
says that the disciples were declaring to others all these things so that a lost
world may come into the fold, into the fellowship of Gods people. Isn't this
what we should do? We should always keep in our minds, the sights and the sounds
and touch of the Master! You and I should never forget the things God has
allowed us to see in our years of service to Him. The souls saved, the miracles
done, the power of His glory witnessed.
We should never cease to remind our selves of the sounds either! Oh what
glorious things I have heard in my time as a Christian. Sweet sounds of
testimonies from victorious saints, the sound of soul stirring shouts coming
from those who had felt the Lord pass by! Sermons that spoke to my heart and
drew me nearer to God. Let us never forget the sights and sounds, and never let
us forgeth the touch! Those heavenly times when the Master touched his creation.
These fond memories and present occurrences should cause us to tell others, so
that they may know, so that they may see, and hear and feel, and so that they
may enter into this fellowship called the family of God! – Bro. Andy
